Commerce Township Approves Medical Marijuana Cultivation Facilities Ordinance
(compiled, June 12, 2015)
Westend, a news magazine serving NW Oakland County, reports the Commerce Township Board of Trustees voted to approve a zoning ordinance to regulate medical marijuana cultivation facilities. The unanimous vote happened June 9. Twelve or more pants in one building equals a “cultivation facility,” according to the ordinance. It also limits cultivation facilities to areas zoned for industrial, research and laboratory use, and it would be considered a special land use.
There are currently 44 medical marijuana cultivation facilities, not counting smaller in-home growing situations that are allowed under state law.
