Suspect Arrested and Charged
in Murder of Mandral Ross in Pontiac

The suspect involved in a homicide in the City of Pontiac which occurred on May 21, 2015 has been arrested by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and was arraigned in 50th District Court.
Jujuan Hawkins, a 20 year old resident of the City of Pontiac, was arrested early Friday morning in Detroit by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team.
He has been charged by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office with one count of Open Murder for the shooting death of 19 year old Mandral Ross, also of the City of Pontiac. In addition to the charge of Open Murder, Hawkins was also charged with Assault with Intent to Murder for shooting another 19 year old male resident of the City of Pontiac during the same incident. That victim was treated and released at an area hospital.
Hawkins is also facing two counts of Possessing a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and one count of Possession of Cocaine. If convicted, Hawkins faces mandatory life in prison.
Hawkins was arraigned on Tuesday, May 26th by Judge Cynthia Walker in 50th District Court. Hawkins was denied bond and remains in the Oakland County Jail. He is scheduled for a preliminary examination conference on Tuesday, June 2nd at 1:30 in front of Judge Walker in 50th District Court. Hawkins has one prior arrest for larceny. To date in 2015, there have been four homicides in the City of Pontiac and subsequently, all have been cleared by arrest.
