The Center for Advanced Studies and the Arts, CASA, is pleased to announce Jennifer Gebbie as the new Director. CASA is a seven-school consortium high school program, with students from Berkley, Clawson, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Lamphere, Madison, and Oak Park High Schools. Mrs. Gebbie will join the CASA family on July 1, 2015. She comes to CASA from Birmingham Schools where she currently serves as a Curriculum Coordinator.
Mrs. Gebbie was selected from a large applicant pool after interviews with CASA staff, students, and administrators from CASA sending districts. All agreed she is a wonderful fit for CASA, has modern natural baby inprogressvast experience with Advanced Placement and arts curricula as well as worldly experience. The interview committee is confident she will continue and expand upon all the outstanding things happening at CASA.
As a Curriculum Coordinator for Birmingham Schools, Mrs. Gebbie created district initiatives related to social studies and the arts, created and delivered professional development, and partnered with organizations such as the Detroit Institute of Arts. She studied in Paris and Pau, France with Choate Rosemary Hall, received her Bachelor’s degree in History from Georgetown University, a Master’s degree in teaching from American University and her Education Specialist degree from Oakland University. Prior to Birmingham Schools, Mrs. Gebbie worked as an Assistant Principal and Social Studies teacher in the Troy School District as well as an International Baccalaureate Program Director in Bethesda, MD.dickeys_graduation_ad_ferndale
Mrs. Gebbie believes in developing the whole student, attending to social and emotional as well as academic development. She believes in leveraging technology to assist and inform instruction and partnering with parents and community members to provide the best possible experiences for all students.
