Madison Hts Man Accused of
Robbing/Carjacking DTE Worker in Pontiac

INCIDENT: 11:56 hrs. – May 11, 2015 – City of Pontiac – Armed Robbery / Car Jacking: #15-70743
SUMMARY: Deputies were dispatched to the 200 Block of E. Montcalm Ave (Detroit Edison Power Substation) regarding an armed robbery of a Detroit Edison worker. Deputies were advised that the suspect approached and was wearing a white mask and was carrying a semi-automatic handgun during the robbery. The suspect took the DTE commercial vehicle, a white late model Ford F-150. The victim stated that he had been working inside the power station when he was confronted by the suspect. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded the keys to the company vehicle. The victim stated that he gave the suspect the vehicle keys and his cellular phone.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: Deputies learned from the victim that the vehicle had a satellite tracking device and that his company was notified of the incident. The tracking device located the vehicle traveling south on Stevenson Highway in the City of Madison Heights. Several units from the detective bureau, along with detectives from the Auto Theft Unit responded to the location of the vehicle. A City of Royal Oak Police Department patrol officer was able to conduct a traffic stop on the stolen truck in the area Twelve Mile Rd. and Campbell and the lone occupant of the vehicle was arrested. A handgun (black Air-Soft BB gun) was recovered, along with a white plastic mask and clothing that matched the description given by the victim. The suspect was transported to the Pontiac Substation where he was interviewed by Auto Theft detectives. The suspect was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges.
ARRESTEE INFORMATION: 25 year old male, resident of the City of Madison Heights.
VICTIM INFORMATION: 66 year old male, resident of the of Bloomfield Township.
