INCIDENT:  08:01 hrs. – May 5 – City of Pontiac – Felonious Assault – Malicious Destruction of Property (MDOP) / Barricaded Suspect / SWAT Activation. #15-67214
SUMMARY:   Deputies responded to the 300 block of N. Johnson Street on the report of a suspect wanted in connection with multiple MDOP’s in the area. Deputies arrived on scene and found that the suspect was in a fight with his brother over what was later found to be a drug deal. The suspect smashed the windows out of a car that was in the driveway. When the first lisa schmidt lawdeputy arrived he gave chase to the suspect and tried to stop him with a Taser deployment, but missed.  The suspect fled on foot into a nearby residence and subsequently refused to come outside. A deputy witnessed the suspect pick up a young child and said “now I have a hostage”. The deputy also witnessed the suspect place a large knife to the throat of the child. The suspect barricaded himself in a second floor bedroom. The residence was surrounded and the SWAT Unit was activated.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:   Negotiators talked the suspect into giving up the children and surrendering to deputies.  He was taken into custody without further incident.  The suspect and his brother were both found to be linked to multiple armed robberies in the area and were lodged in the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges.
