32 Year Old Mother Shot Dead in Pontiac

Deputies were dispatched at 9:54PM last night to the 200 block of S. Shirley for a report of woman having been shot. She died of multiple gunshot wounds. The victim is 32 year old female and homeowner at the home.
Her 2 year old daughter was shot once in the upper leg. She was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where she was treated for a single gunshot wound and is listed in stable condition and expected to recover.
The suspect and victim were boyfriend/girlfriend. They were arguing in the upstairs bedroom. The suspect produced a 9mm handgun and fired numerous times at the victim. She was struck numerous times in the chest area and fell into the closet. The 2 year old was standing next to the victim when the suspect fired and she was hit in the leg by gunfire.
Deputies found the 2 year old in the closet with the victim. Downstairs in the living room were the victim’s 11 year old son, 13 year old daughter and 18 year old brother. They were not injured.
8 minutes after receiving the call on South Shirley St., Deputies were dispatched to the 700 block of 4th Street for a “shots fired call”. Deputies located the suspect in the homicide in the street standing next to his vehicle. He was ordered to the ground and taken into custody. The 9 mm handgun believed to be used in the homicide was located next to him. Shots had been fired into the air by the suspect at that location but no one was injured.
The victim and suspect do not have any children in common.
The father of the 2 year old was notified and he was met by detectives at Royal Oak Beaumont.
The suspect is a 21 year old Waterford Township resident and he was lodged at at the Oakland County Jail pending charges. The suspect has no prior criminal history.
