Man Shot Mysteriously While Unloading Car in Springfield Township

INCIDENT: 17:21 hrs. – Springfield Township – Shooting Investigation. #15-53444
SUMMARY: Deputies responded along with the Springfield Township Fire Department, to an address in the 11600 block of Shaffer Rd. Original information was that the caller’s husband was bleeding from his shoulder as a result of an unknown injury. Upon arrival the victim was suffering from what appeared to be a small caliber bullet wound to his right shoulder. The victim and his wife had just arrived home from the airport and were unloading their car in the driveway. While standing at the rear of his vehicle the victim felt an impact to his back and observed blood running down his arm. Neither the victim, nor his wife saw anyone in the area at the time of the incident.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Pontiac via Star EMS. The victim was admitted for his injuries which appear to be non-life threatening. Upon speaking with the neighbors it was reported that several gunshots had been heard in the wooded area around the time of the incident. Neighbors and the victim report that gunfire is a regular occurrence in the wooded area surrounding their homes. Deputies walked the wooded area, but were unable to locate any witnesses or suspects. The incident remains under investigation.
