Ferncare Receives Grant to
Help People Get Insurance Coverage
(FernCare Press Release, April 8, 2015)
The Metro Health Foundation has awarded FernCare a one year grant of $8,744 to support enrollment assistance in either the Affordable Care Act Insurance Exchange or Healthy Michigan. This assistance will be offered, not only to FernCare patients, but to anyone in the wider community. Those needing assistance are encouraged to call the clinic’s Appointment line at 248-677-2273.
FernCare received the grant in recognition of the need for people in Ferndale and the surrounding community to obtain assistance with the insurance enrollment process. Having someone familiar with both programs to assist applicants can drastically reduce enrollment approval process by ensuring that applicants receive accurate information regarding their eligibility for one of the programs.
The information obtained from FernCare, as well as other agencies performing the same services, will be used as a basis to make needed adjustments as the programs mature, allowing more uninsured people to be included.
Metro Health Foundation is a private grant-making foundation. MHF makes grants to Michigan organizations for health care and in health-related fields.
FernCare Free Clinic offers health care to anyone between the ages of 19 through 64 who has no Health insurance and no primary care provider. For more information, go to www.ferncare.org.
