(Baker College Press Release, April 2, 2015)
Baker College of Auburn Hills – known for high-tech programs such as computer network technology, cyber security and CAD – can now also tout having the highest resolution light-emitting diode (LED) message sign in the state. The new, U.S.-made sign will carry information about campus events and, through an agreement with the City of Auburn Hills, will also display emergency information provided by the Auburn Hills police department, such as Amber Alerts.
The clear image that supports photographs and other intricate displays is made possible by pixels spaced a mere 10mm apart. The sign has 900 pixels per square foot; 45,000 total pixels within its 10-by-5 frame. In this case, more is definitely better.
PeteCandlewickshop_May2014 Karsten, Baker College of Auburn Hills president, says this state-of-the-art technology signage helps present a quality impression of the campus.
“The sign is easily programmed so it will carry crisp, easy-to-read and timely communication of campus events,” he said. “The ability to display Amber Alerts and other emergency information is also an important usage for the sign.”
The ground-level sign is located at the main entrance of the Auburn Hills campus at 1500 University Dr., Auburn Hills. It was manufactured by Watchfire Signs, Danville, Illinois, and installed by Agnew Graphics Signs & Promotions, Owosso.934_8600_Gen-Online_Banners
Watchfire has manufactured outdoor electric signs in the Midwest since 1932 and LED signs since 1996. Watchfire is one of an elite few digital sign companies with full-scale manufacturing in the United States.
