Stabbings and Nuisance Activity Could Cost Glo Nightclub Liquor License
(Compiled, March 23, 2015)
Ferndale City Council is considering which businesses they will recommend not having their liquor licenses renewed. The decision, to be made at tonight’s city council meeting, normally comes from businesses that owe back taxes. But one club owner could face the risk of losing their license because of a fight at the club that left two people stabbed and one injured with a broken bottle on March 17. The suspect(s) has not been found.
According the a report in The Daily Tribune, the day after the incident took place, City Attorney Dan Christ sent the owners of Glo (located at 22061 Woodward near West Hazelhurst) a letter notifying them of a public hearing on the license recommendation issue. “The objection is based on nuisance activity, insufficient safe parking and criminal activity in or near the club,” the report explained. The hearing will give an opportunity for the club owners to share their side. If the City votes not to recommend renewal, the decision still sits with the Liquor Control Commission. The meeting is at 7pm at Ferndale City Hall.
