RenUnity_chopra_topClawson Brings Groups in Fromessential Other Cities for Tours
(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 15, 2015)
Downtown Clawson has come up with a new way to attract visitors to their community – by offering bus tours to out of town groups.
A March 13 blog post on the DDA website shares what the program and the experience are all about:Judy_Palmer30years
“As part of the downtown’s Age-Friendly Main Street initiative we are marketing our downtown, and city, to surrounding community groups with Discover Downtown Clawson tours. Today we welcomed our first tour group who arrived from Sterling Heights on a bus filled to capacity and with a waiting list!
The tour starts at Leon & Lulu with a brief introduction to the history and story of this fun store by its owner Mary Liz Curtin. A raffle drawing, coffee & cookies, and shopping round out the segment. Then it was on to Da Nang to enjoy a great luncheon while owner Kim Waldis HowesLocationexplained Vietnamese culture and cuisine.
Historical Museum Curator, Melodie Nichols, and DDA Director, Joan Horton, re-joined to group to embark on a bus tour of Clawson neighborhoods to learn about the many kit homes in Clawson. Melodie’s extensive research and fun stories on the history of these homes made for a fun and interesting tour.
Everyone enjoyed the trip – the shopping, the food, the fun facts – and were talking about their next trip to Clawson. Can’t wait for the next tour group from Macomb County that’s booked for April.”
