Oak Park Sparkles with
Winterfest
(C.Proxmire, Feb. 1, 2015)
The freezing January temperatures did not deter the people of Oak Park from putting on a Winterfest event that warmed the hearts of the families that attended. Outside the ice sculptures held their form, and animals in the petting zoo got plenty of love to keep the chills at bay. The hill got sledded down. And people of all ages enjoyed the classic messiness of marshmallows melted in the bonfire and paired with graham crackers and chocolate. Families took sleigh rides through the parking lot.
Inside children ice skated for free, and young dancers performed for their parents. There were also clowns who made creations out of balloons.
The event brought the community together on a cold day.
