Selma Discussion and Civil Rights Speaker in Royal Oak Feb. 4
(Michigan Coalition for Human Rights Press Release, Jan. 25, 2015)
MCHR has decided to sponsor a discussion on the film Selma because Detroit is home to many Alabama Civil Rights Veterans who witnessed that history. We have planned the event to coincide with a 5:10 showing of the film at the Emagine Theatre in Royal Oak so that if you have not already seen the film you can do so then walk over to the Royal Oak Library for discussion at 7:15. This will be held Wednesday, February 4th.
Alabama civil rights veteran, SNCC member and MCHR Advisory Board member, Gloria House will join a panel of other civil rights veterans (to be named when confirmed) emceed by our civil rights activist, Dorothy Aldridge.
No film can portray the whole scope of a historical event so come and hear the history from the sources. You will moved by the movie and further inspired by their stories and critiques. Huntington Woods Peace group is cosponsoring with us.
