Fuzzgun and Mom Barley at Ferndale Library Feb. 7
(FADL Press Release, Jan. 17, 2015)
Genuine live, loud rock music inside a library is no longer a novel concept thanks to Start HERE Saturdays, the Ferndale Area District Library’s popular monthly concert series.
This month, proto punk quartet, Fuzzgun will bring the noise with their angular, driving jams, along with Mom Barley, an Ypsilanti-based trio with a poignant blend of melodic, folk and strummy indie rock.
The beloved local music program, spearheaded by Kelly Bennett, Head of Circulation Services, regularly welcomes two local bands for a free all ages show beginning at 7pm on Sat. Feb. 7.
Started in 2010 and originally scheduled on the First Friday of every month, this afterhours local music showcase was recently rescheduled (and rebranded) with the Library now closed on Fridays after recent necessary budget cuts. But, some library programs are simply too cool to cancel. Music is alive and well at the Ferndale Library, having invited local bands to plug-in and perform for the public, free, for four year’s running.
If you are interested in playing at one of the Start HERE Saturday events, please contact Kelly Bennett at kelly@ferndalepubliclibrary.org.
