Basketball Jones Visits Angell School in Berkley
(BPS Press Release, Jan. 9, 2015)
Jim ‘Basketball’ Jones visited Angell at an assembly that encouraged kindness, “patient listening,” manners and good choices.
Students listened intently as they repeated back nearly everything Jim ‘Basketball’ Jones said including, “I love myself” and “I am the best,” and, “I am important!”
The kids practiced applying kindness with their peers by saying nice things to three people around them and embracing friends in a hug.
Jim ‘Basketball’ Jones performed tricks with basketballs while singing and dancing to popular songs. Students also joined in as the gymnasium rang out with empowering songs by Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Capital Cities. Prizes were given out to students who participated and sat all the way on their bottoms and showed enthusiasm. Angell students had a blast as they practiced listening, applying kindness, and learning about skills that develop strong leaders.
