Just Baked Closes Shop (C. Proxmire, Jan. 6, 2015)
The cupcake-themed chain Just Baked announced Monday they would be closing all of their stores except four franchise locations, according to the Detroit Free Press.
A statement by Pam Turkin, founder of the business, said “After carefully evaluating our business operations, and how best to move forward as a successful company, we’ve determined, effective today, to close all of the corporately-run locations. This is an extremely difficult decision, but ultimately one we feel is right.”
The loss of ten stores impacts Oakland County, including stores in Auburn Hills, Royal Oak, Novi and two in Southfield. According to their website, Turkin opened Just Baked in 2008 after seeing similar stores popping up on the coasts.
