21 Year Old Dies After Ignoring Construction Signs on I-75 Ramp

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 26, 2014)

At about 2:40am Friday a 21-year-old man from Holly drove his 2005 GMC Sierra around construction barricades that were blocking the onramp to I-75 at Westbound 12 Mile road in Madison Heights.

State Police report that the man, Cody Petzold of Holly, drove into a hole where part of the ramp had been missing. The vehicle fell 20 feet before crashing onto 12 Mile.

A passenger in the car was taken to Beaumont Hospital with injuries.

The accident closed 12 Mile between John R and Stephenson Hwy, but the road is now re-opened.
