The Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting the Pontiac Deputies with the investigation of a serious injury crash that occurred east bound Walton west of Stanley in the City of Pontiac. The crash occurred at about 8:55 a.m. this morning.
A 32-year-old, Pontiac resident was operating a 2001 Mercury Sable west bound Walton east of Stanley. The driver lost control on the icy road, went left of center and was broadsided by a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt that was nicholas-schrock-allstatetraveling east bound on Walton. The passenger of the Mercury Sable, a 31-year-old Waterford resident was critically injured. The Chevrolet Cobalt was operated by a 28-year-old, Waterford resident.
The passenger of the Mercury Sable was trapped and had to be extricated by the Waterford Fire Department. She was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital-Oakland and then airlifted to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. She is currently listed in critical condition.
The drivers of the Mercury Sable and Chevrolet Cobalt were also injured. Both drivers were transported to McLaren-Oakland Hospital, listed in stable/serious condition.
The ice on the roadway was possibly caused by a fire hydrant that had recently been leaking in the area west of the crash scene. The roadway was salted by Pontiac DPW.
Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor. All occupants were wearing seat belts.essential
The crash remains under investigation
