27 Year Old’s Death Possibly Narcotics Related

INCIDENT: 17:12 Hrs. – Nov. 13 – Independence Township – Death Investigation   #14-180149
SUMMARY: Deputies, along with the Independence Township Fire Department were dispatched to a home on Pheasant Run for an unconscious subject.  Upon arrival the subject was pronounced deceased via McLaren Oakland Hospital.  The father of the deceased stated that his son had previously had a drug problem. A friend of the deceased, who was with him the previous night, told detectives that the deceased had recently used narcotics and had started acting strangely afterwards. He said that they had an argument and he had left the residence about 10:15pm. The friend stated that he returned to the residence at about 10:30pm to retrieve something that he forgot. Upon entering the room he found his friend sleeping and snoring loudly. At 5:00pm the next afternoon the deceased father came home from work and checked on his son and found that he was not breathing. The deceased’s sister happened to be at home and is a nurse.  Her father had her check her brother and she determined that he was deceased and appeared to have been for several hours.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:   An OCSO Detective and an Investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to assist in the investigation. The Forensics Lab responded to the process the scene.  The M.E.’s Office took custody of the deceased for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.
