Huntington Woods Tops Pleasant Ridge with 66% Voter Turnoutroyal_services

Just before the Nov. 4 elections, Pleasant Ridge Mayor Kurt Metzger challenged residents to have a higher voter turnout than their neighbors in Huntington Woods. He shared this challenge with the oc115, along with years of data that showed the two communities were often close in their turnout percentages.
The City of Huntington Woods responded by sharing the challenge and getting out to the polls. They announced gallowaycollens1their victory in their latest email blast, stating “Prior to the election, the Pleasant Ridge Mayor had challenged Huntington Woods to see who would have the greater voter turnout in his article posted on the website Oakland County One-Fifteen. And Huntington Woods won!  We had a 66% voter turnout compared to 64% in Pleasant Ridge.  Great job voting!”
Pleasant Ridge had four ballot measures to consider. Voters there passed a general operating millage with 74.34% in favor. A park improvement millage passed with 67.57% approval. Renewal of library funding passed with 80.56% in favor. And a citizen-led initiative to change the city’s charter to make marijuana enforcement a lowest priority passed with 70.16% approval.
In Huntington Woods a charter amendment was on the ballot to decriminalize personal seed542767892 Karen Towmeyamounts of marijuana. This ballot measure was also done by citizen petition. State and Federal laws can still be applied. This effort was approved with 2,295 voting yes and 993 voting no, a 70% approval rate.
Berkley also had a marijuana decriminalization measure on the ballot, which passed with 62% approval.
