Police Chase Starts in Ferndale, Ends in Highland Park with a Crash

The Michigan State Police arrested two suspects following a police pursuit that occurred on October 30, 2014 at approximately 5:20 PM.
Troopers from the Metro Post attempted to perform a traffic stop at 9 Mile & Central Street in the City of Ferndale. The suspect vehicle a 2004 Cadillac was stopped for a traffic violation. The driver fled from the stop and then failed to stop from the fully marked state police vehicle with lights and siren activated. As the suspect was travelling southbound on Woodward Avenue it failed to stop for a red light and was struck by a Gray Escape at the intersection of Woodward Ave. and Davison Freeway in the City of Highland Park. The driver continued from the crash behind a business where he crashed again and was taken into custody. The passenger of the fleeing vehicle jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran from the scene on foot. The passenger was taken into custody several minutes later near the area of 62 Waverly Street. Both suspects were in custody at 5 30 PM.
The suspect driver and passenger complained of injuries and are being treated at a local hospital at this time. The driver of the Escape, a 23 year old female from Detroit, was not injured. A LEIN check revealed that the driver, a 44 year old male from Detroit had a warrant for Parole absconder. He was on parole for Breaking and Entering, assault with a dangerous weapon and other felonies. The passenger, a 45 year old male from Detroit, had multiple misdemeanor warrants from different agencies.
Troopers are still investigating this incident. There were no injuries to the public or troopers involved in this incident.
