Bloomfield Hills Student Wins Recipe Contest, Meets First LadyFriends of Libraries Week Ad

Elena Hirsch, 7th grade student at West Hills Middle School, won first place for the state of Michigan in the national recipe contest “The Healthy Lunchtime Challenge!” Hirsch was invited HowesLocationto join First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House for a Kid’s “State Dinner” and her recipe was published in the “2014 Healthy Lunchtime Challenge Cookbook.”
Hirsch’s recipe, the “Barack-Oli & Mich-Room Obama-Let,” was a healthy omelet made with garlic, sage, butternut squash, broccoli, mushrooms, and cheese.
Hirsch was paired with Chef John from “The Lark” to perform her recipe in front of over 90 seventh grade students at West Hills Middle School. Everyone enjoyed her delicious egg white omelet!
