Hazel Park Debuts Dog Park Oct. 23

After months of fundraising by residents, the City of Hazel Park is ready to unveil The Hazel Park Dog Park. Located on Cousins between Woodward Heights and 10 Mile, the park will give friendly pooches a place to play and run free.
There will be a grand opening celebration on Oct. 23 at 11 am and passes will go on sale beginning Oct. 27. The cost is $25/year for residents and $40/year for non-residents.
The rules are as follows:
~Park users and dog owners assume all risk related to park use.
~Dogs must be leashed prior to and upon leaving the park.
~Dogs with a history of, or who have exhibited, aggressive behavior are prohibited.
~Dogs must be licensed and vaccinated and wearing identification tags.
~Dogs in heat are prohibited.
~Puppies under four months of age are prohibited.
~Any food is strictly prohibited.
~Owners must clean up after their dogs.
~Owners must supervise their dogs at all times.
~Limit three dogs per person per visit.
~Anyone 17 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

The park will be open 9am to dusk. Passes will be available for sale through the clerk’s office.
“Hazel Park residents have wanted a dog park for a long time,” said Mayor Jan Parisi who was among those who helped raise the $10,000 needed to make the doggie dream a reality. “Now the pets will have a safe place to play and run.”
