Detroit Police Officer Accused of Road Rage, Pulling Gun in Birmingham

On Friday, October 3, 2014 at approximately 7:00 p.m. the Birmingham Police Department received a call about a road rage incident involving a handgun.
The vehicles had been southbound on Woodward in the area of Maple when the incident occurred. The vehicles continued southbound into Royal Oak where officers from the Royal Oak Police Department stopped the suspect vehicle.
The driver, a 43 year old male from Wixom, identified himself as a Detroit Police officer.
The driver was taken into custody by Birmingham officers. A semi-automatic handgun was recovered from the vehicle. The driver was processed and released pending the reports being submitted to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for charges. Detroit Police Internal Affairs Division was notified about the incident.
