Three Drug Deaths in Pontiac Unrelated (video)

FROM DAY SHIFT: 10-01-14
THROUGH MIDNIGHT SHIFT: 10-02-14
All three deaths below in Pontiac appear to be heroin overdoses. Detectives are following up and have submitted the suspected heroin recovered at each scene to the Sheriff’s Forensic Lab to see if there is a connection or any sign of an adulterant in the suspected heroin.
INCIDENT: 15:24 hrs. – City of Pontiac – Death Investigation – #14-155592
SUMMARY: Deputies, along with Star EMS, responded to the 300 block of Ferry Street for a report of a deceased person. Deputies and a detective arrived and located a deceased male subject in the front bedroom. Star EMS pronounced the subject deceased on scene via telemetry at McLaren Oakland Hospital. Deputies located suspected heroin and other drug paraphernalia in the room. There were no signs of foul play.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: A detective and an investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s office responded and took custody of the deceased pending an autopsy. The investigation continues.
DECEASED: 31 year old male Waterford Township resident.

INCIDENT: 16:44 hrs. – City of Pontiac – Death Investigation – #14-155646
SUMMARY: Deputies, along with Star EMS, responded to McDonald’s restaurant (Woodward Ave. & South Blvd.) for an unresponsive subject. Upon their arrival, Deputies found the subject in a vehicle in the parking lot and began CPR. Star EMS transported the subject to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: A Detective responded to assist in the investigation. Witnesses stated that the male subject was sitting in his truck talking to another subject in another car. A short time later, the subject was slumped over and unresponsive. The subject had recently been treated for an overdose. Hypodermic needles and suspected heroin were found in the car. The investigation continues.
DECEASED: 24 year old male, Waterford Township resident

INCIDENT: 22:35 hrs. – City of Pontiac – Death Investigation – #14-155816
SUMMARY: Deputies responded to the 60 block of Forrest for a report of a female slumped over her sink. Upon arrival deputies had to force their way into the residence. The subject was pronounced deceased on scene by Star EMS via telemetry at McLaren Oakland Hospital. Deputies discovered an infant in an upstairs bedroom. Star EMS transported the infant to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for a medical evaluation. The infant was then turned over to family members.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: A detective and an investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to assist in the investigation. The deceased was transported to the M.E.’s office where an autopsy will be conducted. The detective found possible heroin in an upstairs bedroom. The investigation continues.
DECEASED: 32 year old female, Pontiac resident.

Update to the below overdose cases:
The OCSO Forensic Lab late yesterday analyzed the suspected heroin in each of the three below overdose deaths and with the following results:
*One was very pure high grade heroin
*One was a mixture of cocaine and fentanyl
*One was cocaine only
The three cases appear to be unrelated.
