Free Mental Health First Aid Training Class in Octoberessential
(press release, Sept. 21, 2014)
More often the type of first aid youth need is not a bandage, CPR, or the Heimlich Maneuver. Often the first aid they need is YOU. A young person you know could be experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis, and you can be in a position to help.
Youth Mental Health First AID teaches a five-step plan to offer initial help to young people showing signs of a seed017_darlene_bignottimental illness or in a crisis, and connect them with the appropriate professional, peer, social or self-help care.
County Commissioners Janet Jackson, Nancy L. Quarles, Helaine Zack, Gary R. McGillivray and Dave Woodward have teamed up with Southeast Oakland Coalition, Oakland County Youth Assistance and Tri-Community Coalition to present an 8 hour training program from USA Mental Health.
The free training is divided up into three sessions: October 2, 9 and 16th from 6pm-9pm at the Pleasant Ridge Community Center, 4 Ridge Road, Pleasant Ridge, MI. Seating is limited, so reserve spots quickly by calling 248-858-0051.
Light dinner will be provided.
