MI Great Artist Contest Accepting Entries Until Oct. 3
(press release, Sept. 17, 2014)
Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson raised the stakes for the 2014 MI Great Artist contest, opening the annual online competition to include 3-D art as well as a total package for the winners of more than $16,000 in cash and prizes.
Entries may be submitted to MIGreatArtist.com through 5:00 pm on October 3.
“Our first two years succeeded in connecting residents in the Economic Growth Alliance region with the work of more than 180 local artists,” Patterson said. “We hope the prize package will create a buzz about MI Great Artist and inspire more Michigan artists to submit their work.”
The MI Great Artist™ is one of Oakland County’s premier quality of life events. Patterson began the competition to promote the Oakland County and encourage creativity in the residents who live, work or attend school in the Economic Growth Alliance region. MI Great Artist™ is an online art competition for visual artists, 18 years and older. Entrants will be able to upload up to 5 images and descriptions of their work for public voting. From the top 20 artists, a 5-member jury of arts professionals will select 5 finalists. The winner will be determined by a combination of jury score and public vote.
Artists who are 18 years and older who also live, work or go to school in the EGA region are eligible. The EGA region includes Oakland, Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Shiawassee and St. Clair counties. Complete rules about what art works and artists qualify for submission are on the website.
MI Great Artist partners include Oakland County, Park West Gallery, Economic Growth Alliance, AdvantageOakland.com and Oakland County Prosper® magazine.
