Student Could Win Trip to Congress of Cities in Leadership Essay Contestctechad

As we know, today’s teenagers will become tomorrow’s leaders. Who will they ultimately be and how will they get there? Some will take themselves into this direction consciously while others will get there by chance, but what will spark that initial thought or idea in their minds? Annual Essay Contest
Every year the MML Foundation (Michigan Municipal League) presents an essay contest for high school gallowaycollens1students (ages 15-18) to stimulate interest in local government and public service.  The winners receive an expense paid trip to the NLC Congress of Cities conference where they will have the opportunity to participate in many youth delegate workshops and network with public officials from around the country.  The winners must be accompanied by an adult who will receive up to $500 toward their expenses upon submission of travel receipts.
Future NLC Congress of Cities Conferences:
November 19, 2014 – November 22, 2014 Austin, Texas
November 4, 2015 – November 7, 2015 Nashville, Tennessee
The essay contest is designed to give students an opportunity to use their knowledge and experience to creatively voice their views on what they value in their community and how it can be improved.  The essay 934_8600_Gen-Online_Banners2topic is “If you were an elected official (i.e. council member/mayor/village president) how would you improve the quality of life in your community?”  Essays will be judged on creativity, clarity, sincerity of thought and proper use of grammar and spelling.
