Oakland County Taskforce Advocating for Public Education will be having a meeting on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 from 6pm-7pm at Oakland Schools, 2111 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford.
The meeting will include a welcome and introduction, and overview of major legislative issues, information on seed542767892 Karen Towmeyhow to prepare for the legislative session and a chance for questions and answers.
The primary purpose of the taskforce is to advocate for public education in Oakland County and the State of Michigan to ensure that Michigan’s children had:
~Quality pre-K educational opportunities
~Classrooms driven by research-based best practices
~Highly trained teachers focused on quality learning for students
~Equity in resources provided to them for their education
~A system of comprehensive schooling at the local community level
The taskforce will recommend public policy that:HowesLocation
~Guarantees transparency from entities spending public money
~Guarantees a level playing field between entities receiving public money for the purpose of educating pre-K -12 students
~Ensures that profits are not the motivating factor for providing educational opportunities to Michigan’s children
~Promotes a stable, fair, and adequate funding system for public education in Michigan
