As an ongoing hub of activity in the region, Downtown Ferndale is often in the midst of an event, a business opening, a great new venture. The Ferndale Downtown Development Authority, in an effort to keep news agencies in the know, is providing you with a one-month overview of events and happenings that will be of interest to your audience, and we will continue to do so throughout the year. Friday, September 5 – Opening reception for “Glen Corey and Gary Van Gorp” a two-man show at Lawrence Street Gallery, 6-9 pm. Mid-month reception is Sept.19, 6-9 pm. Show continues thru September 26, details at LawrenceStreetGallery.com. LSG is located at 22620 Woodward.
Friday, September 5 – “Angels in America, Parts 1 & 2” by Tim Kushner opens at 8 pm at The Ringwald, 22742 Woodward. Performances Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays thru September 29. Details at TheRingwald.com
Friday-Sunday, September 12-14 – Art Fair Weekend in Downtown Ferndale. The DIY Street Fair and the Funky Ferndale Art Fair take over Downtown Ferndale with the work of fine artists and artisans, craftspeople and cottage industry entrepreneurs. Coupled with edgy music (on the DIY/east side of Woodward) and acoustical guitar (on the FFAF/west side of Woodward), the user experience is multi-faceted, inspiring and easy to navigate. Thursday, September 18 – “Get Reel. Outdoor Movies on Vester Street” features “Sixteen Candles” projected on the giant silver screen on Vester Street (1 block north of East Nine) in Downtown Ferndale. Presented by Ferndale Collision, the original Sixteen Candles is the last in the summer movie series which offers FREE outdoor viewing to all. Movie rolls at dusk. Road Closure: Vester Street between East Alley and Bermuda, 3 pm – Midnight.
