5/3rd Bank Robbery Suspect Apprehended

5/3rd Bank Robbery Suspect Apprehendedt
(Lt. David Clemens, Royal Oak Police Dept, Sept. 2, 2014)
On Monday, September 1, 2014, at approximately 3:15 p.m., the Dearborn Police Department Special Operations Unit, with assistance from the FBI Oakland County Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force, the Royal Oak Police Department, and the Detroit Police Department arrested Roy Lee Buck Jr., resident of Detroit, for the August 30, 2014, robbery of the Royal Oak Fifth Third Bank.
Roy Lee Buck Jr. was charged with one (1) count of Bank Robbery, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. Buck is being held pending a detention hearing in United States District Court. The hearing is set MBREW draft onefor September 3, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. before the presiding judge.
“The swift arrest of this suspect was the result of a joint investigation involving the FBI and local police agencies. The agents and detectives involved in this case did an exceptional job,” said Chief Corrigan O’Donohue.
Buck has prior convictions for Breaking and Entering, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property, Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer and Larceny from Person.

On August 30, 2014, at approximately 10:34 a.m., the Royal Oak Police Department responded to 5/3rd Bank, located at 29710 Woodward, on a report of a bank robbery. The suspect, described as a medium-dark skinned black male, 6’2”– 6’4”, 30-40-years-old, with a goatee, wearing gardening gloves, walked up to a seed09_jeannie_davisteller and passed a note demanding money. The suspect indicated he had a gun but no weapon was seen.
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken and the suspect fled the area. No one was injured during this robbery.
