Ferndale to Offer 60 Day Fee Relief Program for Flood Victimswaterwork

On Monday night, City Council approved of a 60 day fee relief program for victims of the August 11th flood that dumped more than 6 inches of rain on the city in under 2 hours.  This program will involve waiving the $35 permit fee for Water heater inspections, $50 permit fee for furnace inspections, as well as certain fees associated with building, electrical, and mechanical work for those residents who experienced damages due spiritual life ferndaleto the flood.  Damaged furnaces and water heaters have been the most consistent big ticket item claimed by residents impacted by the flood.  Mayor Pro Tem Dan Martin commented, “This fee relief package is nominal when contrasted against the significant losses our residents are dealing with, but we want to provide some relief where we can for residents dealing with financial hardship”.

Despite the waiving of these permits, residents still must obtain a permit from the Community and Economic Development Department to ensure that all repairs and installations are made safely and correctly.  CED may be contacted at 248-546-2366.  Office hours are between Monday – Thursday, between 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
