In Oak Park a Charter Amendment to decriminalize marijuana for adults age 21 and up on private property, passed with 2161 yes and 1913 no. In Hazel Park an ordinance change with the same provisions passed with 763 yes and 460 no votes.
seed02_sharon chessClawson voters approved a millage to improve their parks, with 1,279 voting yes and  971 voting no.
Statewide Proposal 1, to repeal the personal property tax for businesses, passed with 69% voting in favor of the measure statewide.
Oakland County’s Public Transit funding passed with 73.66% voting yes and 26.34% voting no.
In the race for Clawson and Troy’s 52-4th District Court Judge, Maureen McGinnis got the most votes with 48.5% (5,906).  Mike Bosnic got 39.5% (4,844), and AnnMarie DeVito got 11.73% (1428). McGinnis and Bosnic move on to the next round and will be on the Nov. 4 ballot.
Robert Wittenberg has won in the Democratic Primary for the 27th State Representative District, covering Ferndale, Oak Park, Royal Oak Township, Huntington Woods and Hazel Park. He captured 43.99% of the vote with 4,165. Rudy Serra got 19.49% with 1,845 votes. Kelli Williams got 15.04% with 1,424 votes. Joe McHugh got 11.55% with 1,094 votes. And Andrew Cissell got 9.93% with 940 votes, Judy_Palmer30yearsaccording to the unofficial results. Wittenberg will now face Republican Michael Ryan in the Nov. 4 General Election. Ryan got 67.9% of the Republican Primary vote (1,382). Republican Mark Mainer got 32.91% (678).
For the 11th State Senate race it was incredibly close for the Democratic candidates. Vincent Gregory won the primary with 34.68% (10,286). Vicki Barnett had 34.29% (10,169). Ellen Cogen Lipton got 31.03% (9,204). All precincts have reported.
The race for the 13th State Senate was also close for the Republican front runners.  Marty Knollenberg got 36.23% (8,788) and Rocky Raczkowski got 35.93% (8.716). Knollenberg will face Cyndi Peltonen in the Nov. 4 election.  Peltonen got 54.93% (7,626), with Ryan Fishman getting 45.07% (6,253).
For Congress in the 11th District, Republican Dave Trott has beaten incumbent Kerry Lynn Bentivolio.  sidebar012stairsTrott earned 66.% (40,421) and Bentivolio got 34% (20,572).  For the Democrats, Bobbie McKenzie came out on top, and will face Trott in the Nov. 4 election.  McKenzie earned 34% (12,765).   Anil Kumar got 32% (12,094).  Nancy Skinner got 27 (9,960).  And Bill Roberts got 7% (2,764).
For Congress in the 14th District, Democrat Brenda Lawrence won with 36% (26,500).  Rudy Hobbs got 32% (24,007).  Hansen Clarke got 31% (22,869) and Foster Burgess got 1% (830).  Lawrence will move on to face Republican Christina Conyers.
