Primary Elections Aug. 5 – Stories and Other Resources
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Aug. 2, 2014)
On August 5 voters will be able to vote in the primary elections. There are several community ballot proposals, a statewide proposal, and a county-wide proposal on funding for public transportation, elections for some District Court Judge positions and primaries for several races. In the primaries voters must only vote for candidates in one party. The winners from each party then move on to the November 4 general election.
The Oakland County Clerk’s website has the most complete information about the races that impact this area, including the ability to pull up a sample ballot for your specific race. Check out their website at http://www.oakgov.com/clerkrod/elections/Pages/default.aspx.
Another great, unbiased source of information about candidates is the League of Women Voter’s website. The LWV Oakland Area holds forums for candidates and gives them a chance to answer questionnaires. That information can be found at http://www.lwvoa.org/candidate_forums.html.
