Man Breaks Into Hotel to Assault Ex-Boyfriend and More in Royal Oak Crime Report

For the week of July 24, 2014 through July 31, 2014
Breaking and Entering
3800 Block of Edgeland, 7-21-14, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect entered her home and stole her checkbook off the kitchen table while she was working in the backyard. 14-23896
825 E. Eleven Mile (Royal Motor Lodge), 7-27-14, 2:47 a.m.: Complainant reported he was in his motel room, when his ex-boyfriend forced open a window, entered his room and assaulted him. After a brief struggle the suspect ran out of the room and fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. The victim called the police department and reported the incident.
Officers quickly arrived on the scene, set up a perimeter and began a K-9 track. The suspect was not located. The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault. 14-24291
Larceny from Automobile
5150 Coolidge (Meijer Department Store), 7-26-14, 3:00 p.m. – 3:20 p.m.: Complainant reported she parked her vehicle in the parking lot. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a car seat. 14-24183
500 block of Woodside, 7-24-14 – 7-26-14, 10:30 p.m. – 10:20 a.m.: Complainant reported he parked his vehicle in his driveway. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had punched the driver side door lock, entered his vehicle, and stole his Cleveland TA7 golf clubs, golf bag, gym bag and a disc golf bag from the trunk of the car. 14-24159
2300 block of Rochester, 7-29-14 – 7-30-14, 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.: Complainant reported he parked his 2014 Ford Fusion in an apartment complex parking lot. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect stole all four rims and tires. 14-24669
Larceny
5150 Coolidge (Meijer Department Store), 7-24-14, 12:15 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Complainant reported she left her purse unattended in a shopping cart. When she went to check out she discovered an unknown suspect had stolen her wallet from her purse. 14-24015
1500 block of S. Campbell, 7-23-14 – 7-28-14, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect entered his unlocked shed and stole his red/silver Schwinn Voyager bicycle. 14-24510
Malicious Destruction of Property
3200 block of Benjamin, 7-26-14, 8:58 p.m.: Officers responded to a malicious destruction of property complaint. A witness reported the suspect broke out the window with his hand.
When officers arrived, they observed a broken window next to the entrance to the apartment complex. The suspect was located and arrested for malicious destruction of property without incident. 14-24228
29000 block of Woodward, 7-25-14 – 7-26-14, 10:00 p.m. – 12:24 p.m.: Complainant reported he parked his vehicle in the apartment complex parking lot. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had slashed his rear driver’s side tire and let the air out of his front tires. 14-24170
Other Incidents and Information
3900 block of Highfield, 7-29-14, 1:40 a.m.: Complainant reported she heard voices outside her home. She looked out the window and saw two (2) subjects in the front seats of her mother’s van, which was parked in the driveway. She yelled at the subjects and they fled the area on foot.
Suspect #1 was described as a white male, late teens to early 20’s, wearing a tank top and cargo shorts. Suspect #2 was described as a white male, late teens to early 20’s, wearing a t-shirt and cargo shorts.

30979 Woodward (Party City), 6-11-14 – 7-11-14, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Complainant reported an employee was taking small amounts of cash from the register. After an internal investigation, Royal Oak Police were contacted and arrested the employee for embezzlement without incident. 14-23906
