Berkley Warns: Curb Painting is Not a City Service
(Crystal A. Proxmire, July 31, 2014)
The City of Berkley has sent out an alert to warn residents of an unlicensed private entity that is passing out fliers about a curb-painting service.
“The Berkley Public Safety Department is aware that a private entity called County Neighborhood Watch is soliciting but not licensed to operate in Berkley. Painting addresses on the curb, as described in the Curb Service flyer, is not offered or mandated by the City of Berkley. Citizens can participate but are not obligated to pay if they did not request the service,” the notice stated
“You do not have to call the City regarding this matter. However, if you have specific concerns or feel threatened by representatives from County Neighborhood Watch, call the Public Safety Department at 248-658-3380.”
Similar warnings about Community Neighborhood Watch can be found online in many cities, with Hazel Park and Royal Oak among cities that have been targeted in the past few years.
