Woman Extracted from Car and Airlifted to Beaumont After Crash in Oakland Twp.

The Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a serious injury vehicle crash that occurred on north bound Rochester Rd south of Whims Ln in Oakland Township. The crash occurred at about 14:16 p.m. on July 23.
An 18-year-old, Oakland Township resident was seriously injured when the vehicle she was operating, a 2006 Ford Taurus was broadsided as she attempted to turn left out of a private driveway located in the 5000 block of N. Rochester. The Ford Taurus was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Impala operated by a 57-year-old, Rochester resident.
The Chevrolet Impala was traveling north bound on Rochester Rd. The driver attempted to avoid the Ford Taurus by making an evasive action prior to impact.
The driver of the Ford Taurus was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Oakland Township Fire. The driver was airlifted by Survival Flight out of Ann Arbor to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where she was listed in stable condition.
The driver of the Chevrolet Impala was injured but refused medical treatment on scene.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Alcohol was not a factor.
This crash remains under investigation.
