Children Saved from Smoky Apartment While Adult Passed Out on Couch Intoxicatedspiritual life ferndale

INCIDENT: 01:48 Hrs. – July 11 – City of Pontiac – Resisting & Obstructing / Child Endangerment / Taser Deployment  #14-106947
SUMMARY: Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Carriage Circle to assist the Waterford Regional Fire Department for the report of a possible apartment fire. Upon arrival, Deputies observed the apartment full of smoke, smoke detectors activated, and a subject sitting on the couch. Deputies began knocking on the door and a male subject seed015_kathryn_balceranswered and exited the apartment.  Upon talking to the subject he became combative and deputies had to deploy a Taser to gain control of subject. The fire department arrived and discovered that the cause of the smoke was food left on the stove. The fire department located three small children in an upstairs bedroom and they were removed from the house. They were examined and no injuries were found. 
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: Further investigation revealed that the subject in the home was intoxicated and had either fallen asleep or passed out on the couch while cooking. The subject was arrested for Resisting and Obstructing and Child Endangerment and lodged at the Oakland County Jail. The children; ages 4 years, 3years and 1 year, were removed from the home by Children’s Protective Services. waterwork
