Video: State Senate Candidates for 11th District Talk About Issues in LWV Forumseed029_keyser_family

The League of Women Voters held a candidate’s forum on July 2 for the 11th State Senate District Candidates at the Southfield Public Library.
Republican Candidate Boris Tuman was not at the present and did not return responses the LWV questions nicholas-schrock-allstatein time to be printed for the event. Democrats Vicki Barnett, Vincent Gregory and Ellen Cogen Lipton were there. Gregory is the current State Senator for the 14th District, and thanks to redistricting is now running for the 11th. Barnett and Lipton are both State Representatives in their respective districts. Barnett is the former Mayor of Farmington Hills and is still a resident there. Lipton, a patent attorney, is from Huntington Woods.
The 11th District includes the cities of Farmington, Farmington Hills, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Huntington Woods, Lathrup Village, Madison Heights, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge, Southfield, and Royal Oak Township.ctechad
Candidates were asked questions on a variety of issues, including several education-related topics like standardized tests and charter schools. They also answered questions on LGBT rights, Proposal 1, working with Republicans and other topics.
To hear what they had to say, check out the video below of some of the questions. The forum is expected to air in its entirety later this month on the Southfield television station and website.
