The Ferndale Arts and Cultural Commission is bringing free music to the community with two free concerts this year. Ryan Dillaha and the Miracle Men will be performing at the Kulick Community Center park (1201 Livernois, Ferndale) on July 18 from 7-9pm. There will be hot dogs and chips, and possibly a 50/50 raffle.

Francine Hachem,Vice President of the newly revived Commission, said “We wanted to start right away seed030_Laurinda Rosswith music in the park because we received a grant from the Ferndale Community Foundation for this project. We wanted to use Ferndale people in our line up and Ryan is such a wonderful , talented and giving person.

“We are only starting with two this year but plan on many more next year. We are in the process of planning fundraisers to fund this along with everything else we are planning. This is truly a working board who want to get going on many many events for next year. We are geeked and ready to go.”

In 2011, Ferndale 115 News profiled Dillaha before a concert at The Rust Belt. At that time he said “Ferndale has been like Shangrala to me,” he said. “I don’t think I am going anywhere.”  And he hasn’t. Dillaha has worked to encourage other musicians in the area, and has been a staple at local events and shows.New Harvest Homes NHH

After playing with drummer Tim Rios for nearly a decade, The Miracle Men were formed in 2013 with the addition of Millman on bass and Portier on guitar. Their band profile describes their sound best “Ryan Dillaha and the Miracle Men play the kind of music you wish people still played; call it Detroit Americana, call it soulful folk rock and roll, but whatever you call it raise a glass and bring your dancing shoes.”
