First Yoga….now T’ai Chi!
The Ferndale Public Library continues finding unique, exciting ways to provide the community with programs for actively improving their health with Courtyard T’ai Chi, every Thursday evening throughout July (starting at 6 PM).
Our weekly Yoga sessions are currently on hiatus until mid-August, but just as those popular weekend sessions would cover the basics for curious beginners, Grandmaster Johnny (Dragon) Dayonot’s T’ai Chi classes  will guide participants of all skill levels, even if it’s your first time! The green grass and shade of the Library Courtyard offers an ideal space for these meditative exercises.
Dayonot, who teaches at the Hamtramck Main Event Gym, will demonstrate the slow, gentle movements of seed012_francine_hachemthis ancient Chinese martial-art; a low-impact and weight-bearing exercise that is at once both aerobic and relaxing. T’ai Chi has been shown to help reduce high blood pressure, ease the symptoms of diabetes, osteoarthritis and rheumatism, as well as improve circulation, strength and balance.
Classes will be held in the Library courtyard (southwest corner of the building), weather permitting. In case of rain, alternative arrangements will be made.
