Female Musicians Support Music for Kids in Foster Care with Songbirds Festival June 27 & 28

PJ’s Lager House in Corktown, Detroit, will be hosting the 2nd Annual Motor City Songbirds Festival on June 27th and June 28th, 2014.
A part of the proceeds will be donated to Play It Forward/ For the Seventh Generation which is a nonprofit organization that provides musical instruments/instructions to children in foster care.
The line up showcases some of Detroit’s finest female singer/songwriters and will not fail to please. On Saturday June 28th the Mixed Media Women of Detroit Artist Marketplace will feature female visual artists’ work that is for sale to help toward the proceeds of the benefit.

On Saturday June 28th the Mixed Media Women of Detroit Artist Marketplace will feature female visual artist’s work that is for sale.
The two night event was dreamed up by Julie Sias, a Medical Social Worker, who wanted to give back to the community in a different way from her usual day to day work. After seeing two of her favorite female fronted acts, The Blueflowers (Kate Hinote) and the Whiskey Charmers (Carried Shepherd) Ms. Sias came up with a plan to incorporate to her love of local music with a good cause.
PJ’s Lager House is located at 1254 Michigan Ave in Corktown Detroit. There is a full kitchen there serving great food including many vegetarian options until 12 am.
