Hazel Park Mayor Jack F. Lloyd Resigns Due to Health Issues

Hazel Park Mayor Jack F. Lloyd was unable to attend Tuesday night’s City Council meeting due to health problems. Instead a statement was read announcing his retirement. Mayor Pro Tem Jan Parisi is now the acting Mayor until Council votes to appoint someone to that position.
Lloyd had been Mayor since 2003, helping to attract new businesses to the city even in tough economic times.  He was well-known in the community for caring about the residents.  He recently retired from a position at Kroger, right across the street from City Hall.
City officials have not yet returned requests for comment, but this story will be updated as information becomes available.
