Royal Oak Woman Dies of Suicide
(Crystal A. Proxmire, May 14, 2014)
At request, Royal Oak Community Engagement Specialist Judy Davids released the following information, which has been edited to protect the identity of the deceased:
“On May 9th 2014, at 7:55PM, officers responded to Poplar for a report of a gunshot victim. The Officers located the victim, a 53 year old woman, inside the home and she was transported to William Beaumont Hospital for treatment of her injury. Initial investigation revealed her boyfriend alerted neighbors to the shooting and was determined to be the same person the victim was arguing with earlier in the evening. The boyfriend left the scene prior to speaking with officers.
“Detectives along with the Oakland County Forensic Crime Lab conducted further investigation and evidence collection. The victim later passed from her injury at William Beaumont Hospital.
“The boyfriend was located at his home in Detroit, where a search warrant was executed. After further investigation and evidence collected at multiple locations, it was determined that the injury was self-inflicted. Information and evidence obtained from the investigation determined the deceased owned the weapon, had a history of depression, and was upset about the status of a recent relationship.”
