Spontaneous Combustion May Have Caused Van Fire in Ferndale
(Crystal A. Proxmire, April 19, 2014)
At about 8pm Friday night, a van caught fire in back of a house on W. Marshall Street near Farmdale. According to neighbor Michael Pierce, “It was started by polyurethane dust in a piece of work equipment that spontaneously combusted. Fire and police showed up within 3-5 minutes and they cleared the scene and it took about 20-30 minutes put the van out.”
Pierce took photographs of the fire as it was happening. The Ferndale Fire Department reports that an investigation is not yet complete and they cannot confirm or deny the cause at this time. This story will be updated as more information is available.
