Pleasant Ridge Picks Breuckman for City Manager
(Crystal A. Proxmire, April 18, 2014)
The Pleasant Ridge City Commission has picked their next City Manager, James Breuckman. The choice comes after a professional search by the Michigan Municipal League to replace former City Manager Sherry Ball who announced her retirement in July.
Pending successful negotiations, Breuckman is expected to be appointed at the May 13 City Commission meeting.
Breuckman has been working as Planning Manager in Rochester Hills since 2011. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Computer Applications from Notre Dame, and a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Michigan State University.
He brings with him a background in planning and economic development, and also has experience overseeing construction projects, conducting market studies, and working with DDAs and TIF districts, budgeting and finance. He’s also been involved with visioning, strategic planning, and master planning.
On Facebook Breuckman shared his sentiments. “As you may imagine, I’m very happy, proud, and excited at this news. Negotiations have not yet begun but I do not anticipate any issues in coming to a reasonable agreement,” he said. “Our city is filled with great, smart people – residents and city staff alike. I met some great neighbors that I did not know before last Fridays meet and greet, and I look forward to meeting many more of you soon. We have a good team of city staff and elected and appointed officials and we will continue to make Pleasant Ridge the best place to live, together.”
