Royal Oak Introduces Pothole Repair Tracking Map
(City of Royal Oak Press Release, April 8, 2014)
The Department of Public Service (DPS) has created a map that allows residents to view the progress of the city’s efforts to repair potholes.
“We have two crews dedicated to patching potholes in residential neighborhoods,” said Greg Rassel, DPS director. “We’ve started repairs in ‘Section 1’ in the city’s southeast corner and we’ll work systematically through each of the city’s 37 sections.”
The tracking map will be updated as crews work through neighborhoods using a cold asphalt repair material to make pothole repairs. If a section is shaded gray, it means the entire section has been passed through or is being worked on.
“However, just because a section been passed through doesn’t mean it’s pothole free,” warned Rassel. “New potholes are popping up all the time.”
DPS receives numerous calls regarding potholes. The policy its to repair hazardous potholes immediately. Smaller potholes will be repaired steadily as crews work through the neighborhoods.
“We don’t want our crews crisscrossing across the city,” Rassel said. “We’re asking residents to be patient.”
