Possible Suicide in Oakland Township

INCIDENT: 15:24 hrs. March 25, 2014– Oakland Township – Death Investigation – 14-43331
SUMMARY: Deputies responded to the 300 block of Birchhill for a deceased person. The deceased had been committed by Deputies for an attempted suicide in the past. She was found deceased by her 20 year old daughter. A suicide note was found with the deceased. There were no signs of foul play.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: A detective responded to the scene.
Medical Examiner’s Office arrived and took custody of the deceased for autopsy.
VICTIM, SUSPECT or ARRESTEE INFORMATION: (Deceased): 45 year old resident of Oakland Township.

SUICIDE PREVENTION:
“Suicide is a major public health issue, but it is preventable,” said George Miller, Director of Oakland County Department of Health and Human Services in a previous article. “It is important for everyone to recognize the warning signs and risk factors for suicide to prevent the loss of lives.”
Warning Signs:
~Talking about, or making plans to die
~Talking about “ending the pain”
~Persistently feeling sad, lonely or “empty”
~Insomnia or excessive sleeping
~Social isolation and withdrawal
~Difficulty concentrating, remembering details, and making decisions
Risk Factors:
~Previous suicide attempt(s)
~Depression or other mental illness
~Substance use
~Family history of suicide
~Physical illness and /or chronic pain
