Royal Oak Police Department Weekly Update

For the week of February 13, 2014 through February 20, 2014

Breaking and Entering

1200 block of S. Lafayette, 2-2-14 – 2-3-14, 6:00 p.m. – 2:00p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect broke into the vacant home through the rear door. The suspect stole 50’ of copper wire, a kerosene heater, a propane heater and miscellaneous tools. 14-5618

Larceny

110 S. Main (Leo’s Coney Island), 2-15-14, 2:15 a.m.: Complainant reported she left her cell phone in the restroom. When she returned to the restroom to retrieve her phone she discovered an unknown suspect stole it. 14-5268

Malicious Destruction of Property

Toms Custom Painting Ad1815 N. Main (Luna Bar), 2-13-14, 1:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.: Complainant reported he parked his vehicle in the south parking lot of the business. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect broke the rear windshield and keyed the hood and both sides of his car.

E. Lincoln and Troy (Royal Oak Ford Storage Lot), 2-17-14 – 2-19-14, 12:00 p.m. – 9:30 a.m.: An employee of Royal Oak Ford reported an unknown suspect broke the rear windshield of a vehicle parked in the storage lot. 14-5721

117 W. Third Street (Hour Magazine), 2-17-14, 8:59 a.m.: A Royal Oak officer observed graffiti spray painted on the east wall of the business. 14-5510

300 block of S. Main, 2-17-14, 7:48 a.m.: A Royal Oak officer observed graffiti spray painted on the west side of the building. 14-5509

W. Sixth Street and Center, 2-17-14, 7:48 a.m.: A Royal Oak officer observed graffiti spray painted on a parking lot sign. 14-5506

1700 block of Gardenia, 2-15-14, 5:50 a.m.: Officers responded to a report of an unknown subject kicking an apartment door. When the officers arrived they observed a highly intoxicated male sitting next to the damaged door. The resident of the BTLWeddingExpo_144x360apartment did not know the suspect. The suspect was arrested for Malicious Destruction of Property and Disorderly Conduct without incident. 14-5271

Other Incidents

500 block of E. Farnum, 2-16-14, 2:27 a.m.: A Royal Oak resident heard someone outside on the east side of his home banging on the exterior wall. When he went to investigate he observed a subject walk up to the front entrance and open the storm door. The resident opened the entry door and the suspect walked into the residence. The homeowner yelled for the suspect to stop but he continued into the home. The homeowner tackled the suspect and held him until police arrived on the scene.

The suspect was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Entering without Permission. He was highly intoxicated and went to the wrong house. 14-5407
