School Funding Discussions Feb. 18, Advocacy Trip Feb. 19nicholas-schrock-allstate
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Feb. 16, 2014)
The Ferndale School Board and other advocates are focusing some of their efforts on Lansing as they grapple with the problem of less funding for public education. On Tuesday, Board Trustee Kevin Deegan-Krause will give two presentations on school funding, and on Wednesday a caravan of parents, teachers, and kids will head to Lansing for a day of lobbying.
Deegan-Krause will be talking at 3:00 at the Ferndale Public Library, and then again at the Pleasant Ridge Jim Shaffer ad EDITEDCommunity Center at 7:00 on Tuesday Feb. 18. His presentation will focus on the issue of funding education, using information he shared in an earlier column in Ferndale Friends and The Oakland County 115 News Hub (http://oaklandcounty115.com/2013/12/10/how-michigan-funds-schools/). During both talks a nearby room will be set up for kids to make signs for the next day’s trip to Lansing.
